STIHL MS 500i W chainsaw

Winter work is common for forestry professionals. The powerful STIHL MS 500i W petrol chainsaw, which weighs just 6.3 kilograms but is comparatively light, has an electric handle heater for comfortable work, better grip and a high level of operating safety even in cold temperatures. The maintenance-free and wear-free heating foils in the handle tube and in the rear handle can be switched on at any time as required.

As the world’s first chainsaw with electronically controlled fuel injection, it is equipped with the innovative STIHL Injection technology. This ensures optimum engine performance and excellent starting characteristics, regardless of altitude and ambient temperature. Air pressure, internal and external temperature are measured by sensors and the information is passed on to the control unit. This can use the values determined to determine the optimum fuel quantity and ignition timing. In this way, fuel metering is ensured by opening and closing the valve. STIHL Injection thus stands for rapid acceleration with extremely high performance and low weight:

• The chain accelerates from 0 km/h to 100 km/h in 0.25 seconds.
• The MS 500i achieves the best power-to-weight ratio on the market: a unique 1.24 kg/kW (in the MS 500i W variant: 1.26 kg/KW).

The electronically controlled fuel injection takes place in the proven STIHL 2-MIX engine, which offers high performance with low fuel consumption. The STIHL MS 500i W is equipped with STIHL ElastoStart, which is easy on your muscles and joints when starting. The top features are rounded off by the HD2 air filter, the captive nuts on the sprocket cover, the volume-adjustable oil pump, the tool-free fuel filler cap and the lateral chain tensioner.
